Tensions surrounding potential US–Iran talks are increasingly driven by public messaging rather than real diplomatic progress.

Alex Vitena, senior fellow at the Middle East Institute, argues that both Washington and Tehran are engaging in “public posturing” instead of serious negotiations. He says there is still no agreement on even the basic framework of what talks should cover, making meaningful progress difficult.

According to him, the realistic path forward must focus on core issues—especially Iran’s nuclear program—while building trust through gradual, step-by-step diplomacy. He warns that expecting a quick or comprehensive deal after decades of conflict is unrealistic, and that media-driven narratives about “winning or losing” are undermining the process.

The video also highlights wider global consequences, including energy dependence on key routes like the Strait of Hormuz. Countries such as South Korea are already adapting by accelerating their shift toward renewable energy solutions, including solar-powered communities.
