The Israeli military conducted overnight strikes in Lebanon following a deadly rocket attack from its northern neighbor that killed at least 12 people in an Israeli-controlled city. Israel accused Hezbollah, a Lebanese group backed by Iran, of the attack, which Hezbollah denied. The Israeli strikes targeted familiar locations near the border with Israel and the southern port city of Tyre, as well as one strike in the Bekaa Valley to the north. Despite the strikes, there was a sense of restraint, avoiding a major escalation that could lead to a broader conflict. However, there was speculation that Israel might still launch a larger retaliation, which could potentially escalate the long-standing low-intensity conflict between Israel and Hezbollah-led forces into a more violent confrontation.<br />In recent months, Israel has been engaged in military conflict with Hamas in Gaza and has also exchanged fire with Hezbollah. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was in the United States, cut his trip short to return to Israel, where he planned to hold an emergency meeting with senior government officials to discuss the country's response to the escalating tensions. The Israeli government has warned that Hezbollah will face severe consequences for its actions.<br /><br />The conflict has a historical context, with the Golan Heights, the site of a recent rocket attack by Hezbollah, being a territory captured by Israel from Syria during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. Israel annexed the area in 1981, a move that was not internationally recognized, although the United States under President Donald Trump recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. The region is home to approximately 20,000 Druze Arabs, some of whom maintain Syrian identity and reject Israeli citizenship. Since 1967, Jewish Israelis have settled in the Golan Heights, with over 20,000 residents currently living there.<br />

Throughout the race, she kept a steady and relaxed pace. <br /><br />She clocked a little over 2 minutes and 30 seconds in the event which put her in last place in the eight-woman preliminary heat. She came in about 24 seconds behind her nearest competitor. <br /><br />This year’s time is roughly 35 seconds slower that her best at just over 1 minute 57 seconds which she set in Monaco in 2010. The fact that she trailed behind at the recent event at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento didn’t matter the least bit to fans. <br /><br />The cheers remained steady throughout her run and greatly increased when she crossed the finish line. <br /><br />After the race Montano commented “I’ve been running through my entire pregnancy, and I felt really, really good during the whole process…. I wanted to be here, and I’m feeling that fire and that desire to be on the track and to race. What a better avenue than to do it at USA Nationals.”
