Egypt Sends Weapons To Somalia, Tensions Escalate With Ethiopia | Firstpost Africa

Tensions between the Horn of Africa neighbours Ethiopia and Somalia are worsening further. Ethiopia has raised concerns as two of its rivals- Mogadishu and Cairo forge closer partnerships. Egypt has delivered its first military aid to Somalia in more than four decades. This comes after both nations signed a security pact earlier this month. Egypt has also offered to send troops to a new peacekeeping mission in Somalia, to fight Islamist terror group al Shabab. The new mission is due to replace an African Union peacekeeping force in January which also includes up to 10,000 Ethiopian troops. However, Mogadishu had threatened to kick out the Ethiopian troops due to a dispute over a port deal Ethiopia signed with Somalia's breakaway region Somaliland in January. As a child, I had three dreams. First, I wanted to sing and record music—and I did that. Second, I aspired to become a radio DJ—and I proudly achieved that as well. The third dream was to visit Ghana, a land I always felt drawn to. I can now say with joy that I finally made that dream a reality, and the moment I set foot on Ghanaian soil at Kotoka International Airport in Accra was indescribable. It was a moment of fulfillment, gratitude, and connection to something much bigger than myself.

Ghana welcomed me with open arms and a spirit of hospitality that felt like coming home. The vibrant city of Accra buzzed with life—colorful markets, joyful music, and delicious street food creating an atmosphere of celebration. From there, my journey unfolded like a beautiful tapestry, rich with history and cultural significance.

Beyond the landmarks, it was the people who left the deepest impression. Their warmth, pride, and vibrant spirit radiated through every conversation, every smile, and every handshake. I felt deeply connected to their joy and resilience.

Ghana nourished my soul in ways I never imagined. This journey was not just about crossing off a lifelong goal; it was about embracing my heritage, finding meaning in the past, and celebrating life in the present. Dreams do come true—and Ghana was the dream that made all the others feel complete.

About the Jamaica Childrens Heart Fund / Chain Of Hope
Since 1997 both Sir Magdi Yacoub-Pres. COHUK and Dr Richard Perryman-
Chairman-JCHF(USA) along with their medical teams, have been at the
forefront of donating their skills and time cost free, to save the
lives of over 700+ needy Jamaican children and adolescents. In 2007
Chain of Hope Jamaica was launched, as a registered charity in Jamaica
with an office based at Bustamante Children's Hospital, Kingston. The
main aim of the charity is to support the establishment of a
self-sustained pediatric cardiac program at the Hospital, enabling the
local Jamaican cardiac team trained in the UK by COH to perform
surgeries.
Gift of Life Int'l NY and Rotarians have been amazing in both support
and sponsorship of the program. Over the past three-plus decades GOL
has provided the means to save the lives of more than 12,000 children.
These children have come from 64 countries on 6 continents, including
Jamaica. All funds donated to this effort go directly to GOL NY.
