The United States says it is in contact with multiple global shipping liners regarding movement through the Strait of Hormuz, as concerns grow over maritime security in the region.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says current operations are “defensive in nature,” stressing that US forces will only respond if threatened. He adds that any attacks on vessels or US assets would be met with action, including targeting fast boats, drones, or missiles deemed a threat.
