Very nice performance of the Jamaican national anthem " Jamaica, Land We Love "
FLAG
The present design emerged from those sent in by the public in a national competition.[citation needed] It was originally designed with horizontal stripes, but this was considered too similar to the flag of Tanganyika (as it was in 1962, only the yellow stripes are thinner), and so the saltire was substituted.
An earlier interpretation of the colours was, "hardships there are but the land is green and the sun shineth" as stated in the government Ministry Paper 28 - National Flag dated 22 May 1962.Gold recalls the shining sun, black reflects hardships, and green represents the land. It was changed in 1996 to black representing the strength and creativity of the people which has allowed them to overcome difficulties, gold for the wealth of the country and the golden sunshine, and green for the lush vegetation of the island, as well as hope.[6] The change was made on the recommendation of the Committee to Examine National Symbols and National Observances appointed by the then Prime Minister P. J. Patterson and chaired by Milton "Rex" Nettleford.[citation needed] The flag is blazoned: Per saltire vert and sable, a saltire Or.
ANTHEM
"Jamaica, Land We Love" is the national anthem of Jamaica, officially adopted in July 1962. It was chosen after a competition from September 1961 until 31 March 1962, in which, the lyrics of the national anthem were selected by Jamaica's Houses of Parliament. When Jamaica was granted independence on 6 August 1962, "Jamaica, Land We Love" continued to be officially used as the national anthem.

KAROAKE SING A LONG SINGALONG
The Jamaica Ghana Nigeria West African connection is clear in its music, food, culture, language, and history.
FACTS about Kingston you probably did not know. (History of Kingston, Jamaica)
History of Kingston & St. Andrew
Kingston Early Beginnings
The parish of Kingston is the capital of Jamaica and it is located on the south-eastern end of the island.
Until 1692, the parish of Kingston did not exist. Kingston came into existence in 1692 after a massive earthquake and itโs subsequent after effects, destroyed two thirds of Port Royal and killed about three thousand inhabitants. Survivors of the earthquake fled to the Liguanea Plains only to perish from exposure and disease. As a result, two weeks after Port Royalโs destruction, the government purchased two hundred acres of land known as โColonel Barryโs Hog Crawle,โ at a cost of ยฃ1000. Up on until the sale, the land was owned by Sir William Beeston who was absent from the island at the time, therefore his attorney Nicholas Lawes, conducted the sale on Beeston behalf.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Finally Breaks Silence On Her Frustration & Humiliation At The 2024 Paris Olympics
The 2024 Paris Olympic Games is by far rated by some of the track community as one of the most pathetic Olympics weโve ever heard. And this is simply due to the unprecedented frustrations that some of the top track athletes were forced to go through. We saw it with the 5000 meters record holder Kenyaโs Faith Kipyegon whose silver medal was suspended before it was reinstated following an appeal. Americaโs sensation ShaโCarri Richardson is another athlete who also got frustrated, failing to clinch her maiden Olympic gold. But I must say, the athlete who suffered the most was the legendary Jamaican sprinter, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. At the age of 37, this Olympic Games was to mark the final race of her career, and so her fans were eager to see her end her career ceremoniously with another medal under her name if not a historic third Olympic gold medal.
For context, Fraser-Pryce, one of the most decorated sprinters in history, who boasts as a double Olympic champion, was all set to compete in the women's 100 meters semifinals, at the Paris 2024, her fifth Olympics.
