Burkina Faso: Ibrahim Traore's Military Govt Says Foiled Fresh Coup Attempt | Firstpost Africa
Burkina Faso's military government says it has foiled a fresh coup attempt led by a formal army official. The junta says several people have been arrested in connection with the plot trying to destabilise the country. The junta has blamed a former high-ranking military official Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba for leading the plot. Damiba took charge as Burkina Faso's interim president after ousting a democratically-elected leader in a coup in 2022. But in less than a year, he was himself overthrown in another coup which was led by the current military chief Ibrahim Traore.
